Put the Boeing on a large ship and paint a mark on the hull where the water line is. Now remove the Boeing and the ship rises. Then, load the ship with items of known weight until it sinks to the line painted. The total weight of the items will equal the weight of the Boeing.Yes this was something out of the box !! But if you keep reading such brain teaser you will start thinking out of the box.
My first thought was Archimedes principal. Get a huge tank/pool of water. fill the tank to the top with water and calculate the amount of water in the tank and the weight of said water. then gently place the 747 in the tank of water. a LOT of water will be displaced during this process and you must allow for completely submerging the aircraft in the tank. when you are done. gently remove the 747 from the tank allowing what water remaining in the craft to drain into the tank. After the 747 is removed, calculate the remaining amount of water in the tank to determine how much was displaced. Calculate the weight of the water that was displaced and you will have the weight of the aircraft.
